A family shaped by the sea for more than a century
The Mr. Johnsen family has been connected to the sea for over a century. Our family farm has been in our hands for more than 100 years — passed down from my great-grandfather, to my grandfather, and then to my father. Generation after generation, we lived from both the land and the ocean — as farmers and fishermen, deeply tied to the rhythms of nature.
This is where our story begins.
My father went to sea as a galley boy in 1950, beginning a lifelong journey in food and cooking. Over the years, he advanced to chief cook and worked across international shipping, preparing meals for crews from all over the world.
Even today, in his nineties, he still enjoys good food and takes great pride in the family’s connection to the sea.
As for myself, I grew up close to the ocean and developed a passion for food early on. I trained as a chef and worked on boats along the Norwegian coastline, later following in my father’s footsteps into international shipping.
Through this global journey, I’ve had the privilege of cooking and tasting food from every corner of the world.
Inspired by those experiences — and by my family’s long relationship with the sea — I returned to my roots to create a line of premium crab products that combine Norwegian tradition with international taste.
Our range is based on Norwegian brown crab, responsibly harvested and cooked by local producers, and includes several varieties that express both heritage and flavor innovation — a true reflection of the Mr. Johnsen legacy.
